Walking One Step at a Time

Yesterday my friend and I went to a Copic class. We traveled an hour and forty minutes to sit in a tiny room with about 12 women eager to learn how to use the markers. I have to tell you though, I found a new love. The moment I used the markers I saw the difference immediately. You can color and blend until you are completely satisfied with your image without any streaking and tearing! After the class, I just had to buy a few to start my collection.

I couldn't wait to get home and try my new markers on anot
her Sarah Kay stamp. I think I mentioned before that I grew up collecting Precious Moments.

As children we learn how to walk with the assurance that if we were to fall, our parents will pick us up. Each step we took made us more confident until we were walking on our own, no longer needing our parents. However, now as adults we think we don't need help walking but, the truth is we need help with each step we take.

Each day I ask the Lord to guide my path. I trust that He will show me the steps to my future. Steps that may involve challenges. I know that if I were to fall, He will pick me up and help me walk again.

Today's card was made with: Stampin' Up! Barely Banana, Certainly Celery and Whisper White card stock, Sultry-Botanical Garden of Urban Florals
paper pad, My Sweek Lili Clear stamp by Sarah Kay from Stampavie and ribbon from Michaels.

Something Different

Hey there,

Today I thought I would show something different. This is a new book mark I learned from Dawn's Stamping Thoughts blog. It takes about 2 minutes to make and once you try it yourself, you will want to make one for every book you own.

Periodically, I
will post a craft or stamping technique. Here are the step by step instructions for this Corner Bookmarker. Post a comment and tell me what you think. I would love to hear from you.

Learning New Things

Hey there, sorry I didn't post a card yesterday. I had my first evening of on-line college courses and it was not easy. I was up til' midnight trying to figure out how to use the virtual campus and complete my first assignment. Surprisingly, I managed to complete all of the assignments that are due by Thursday so I can post a card for today.

This was my first attempt at using my sewing machine. It took me half an hour to figure out how to get the machine to sew! All I hand to do was flip the switch!! *wink-wink* What a great card to share with you today. Don't you just like the sewing machine? It's from the Puns from the Past stamp set. If you love antiques, this is the set for you. Click on the link so you can view it for yourself.

As adults we get nervous when we have to learn new things because we are comfortable with what we already know. We don't realize the ability we have to learn new things each day. Tonight I challenge you to step outside of your box and learn something new. You'll be surprised how rewarding it is.

Tonight's card was made with: Stampin' Up! Puns from the Past stamp set, Chocolate Brown and Very Vanilla card stock, sponge daubers, Cuttlebug
Textile Texture embossing folder, misc button, ribbon scraps and my sewing machine.

Being Transparent

This morning I woke up with one goal in mind. I wanted to make a card using Crystal Effect to create a glass like illusion.

First, I stamped my image and sentiment on whisper white card stock. Then I sponged the border to give it a softer look. I applied two coats of crystal effect and set aside to dry. The picture doesn't show as good as it does in person but, it really did turn out lovely.

I hope you are enjoying my blog and are being inspired. Let your cards tell a story. As you begin to think about what you want to convey, think about the color being your mood, the sentiments being your voice, and the embellishments being your accessories.

Today's story is the peace I found within me to accept the adjustments I had to make in my life these past months. What's your story?

Today's card was created with: Stampin' Up! Old Olive and Baja Breeze card stock, Green Tea designer series paper (no longer available), Pretty Amazing stamp set, Old Olive grosgrain ribbon and Crystal Effects.

Birthday Wishes

How sweet is this card? I made it yesterday for my sister-in-law. When my mom asked me to make a birthday card, I couldn't resist to take out my "Stephanie" stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs, Inc.

Today I bought a new planner so I can organize myself before I start my on-line college courses on Monday. In it I wrote down all my appointments, the kids activities, my Stampin' Up! workshops and Birthday's to Remember. Now that I got myself organized, I plan not to forget anyone's birthdays and send them a card. Now there's no excuse! I actually forgot my sister-in law's birthday!!

Happy Belated Birthday Debbie! *Wink*

Today's card was made with:
Martha Stewart Playful Pink paper pad collection,
Prima - Got Flowers Summer 3, Stampin' Up! Pink Pirouette and Whisper White card stock, Rhinestone Brads - Circle Ice, and Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon.

Hanging Out with Some Friends

Last night I had a chance to catch up with some friends during my Special Technique Workshop.

We made this card and learned how to use Shrinky Dinks to embellish the cards. We actually stamped on the Strinky Dinks and baked them! I love the way this card turned out.

I enjoy having workshops for the simple excuse to have friends over. We spend more time chatting and laughing then actualy making a card. Surprisingly, we do manage to finish a card or two. *wink-wink*

Today is the deadline to send me your card using your favorite stamp. I hope you plan on sending me a card. I will post the best card tonight at 9pm est time. I can't wait to see your cards!

Echoes of Kindness

I have to admit, I have a new stamp set I love! This set is called Echoes of Kindness and it's one of the *Hostess Level sets in the New catalog. I also used a new designer series paper called Raspberry Tart.

The sentiment reads, "Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless." - Mother Teresa

Today I had the chance to chat with a very special person I haven't spoken to for quite some time. I remember when I used to encourage her to be her best through my actions and small gestures. It wasn't until she brought me a school paper that I realized how much she admired me. I never thought of being someone's role model. It was a honor to receive such admiration. My hopes and dreams for her is that she continues to find hope in God and a refuge in Christ.

Saying Thank You

Is it ever too late to say Thank You?

I read the perfect quote while reading my devotional that inspired me to make this card.

"We have this moment to hold in our hands, and to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand. Yesterday's gone and tomorrow may never come. But, we have this moment today."
-Gloria Gaither

Growing up I collected Precious Moments. So, I couldn't resist buying the stamps when I saw them. Isn't she so cute? The stamp is
PRECIOUS MOMENTS CLEAR STAMP by Sarah Kay from Stampavie. I used Pink Pirouette and Sage Shadow as my main colors.

Don't wait until tomorrow to say thank you when you can say it today. When was the last time you told someone thank you? So have a little fun making a thank you card.

Milestone

Tomorrow marks a huge milestone for my son and I. He turns 17 - not quite a man but, just about there. And I realized he's not my little boy anymore. Of course, we won't be celebrating his birthday tomorrow because he is on a ski trip with his youth group...anywhere to be away from his parents. I guess that's the way teenagers are.

Here is the card I made for him. He loves the checkerboard patterns and has a passion for playing guitar.

In closing, here is a picture of how I still remember him in my heart.

Embrassing Today

My DH ask me to make him a card for a client who lost his best friend. I wanted to make the card looked aged because of the many years of friendship they shared. I wasn't planning on posting a sympathy card but, I thought that perhaps this card could mean so much more. For me it means saying good bye to the old and welcoming the new.

For this card, I used the Kindred Spirits stamp set. I tore the card stock and sponged the edges to give it that old world look. I wanted to keep the card simple yet elegant. What do you think? My color combination were kraft, not quite navy and chocolate brown.

Saturday will mark a very special day in my life. My baby will be turning 17. Tomorrow's card will be his birthday card. I haven't thought of what stamps to use but, I already I know what colors and layout I'll be using. I can't wait to show you.

Just a reminder, if you would like to purchase the new Stampin' Up! Summer-Spring catalog, let me know. The new catalog goes live on Monday, January 19th!

Practical Actions

I am not one to enjoy the cold weather but, I do enjoy watching the snow when it is first coming down. The smell of the crisp air and the white blanket that covers the grass and trees are moments in life that we have to enjoy. I heard that we might just get lucky tomorrow with 1 to 2 inches. It's just not winter if it doesn't snow.

It's hard to tell from this picture but, I added some snow to the trees. I outlined the tree branches with Versa marker and used seafoam white embossing powder. My color combination was garden green, chocolate brown and close to cocoa.

I would love to hear from you. Share with me what is your favorite part of winter and let me know what you think of this card.

Keeping a Proper Prepestive

Today was filled with lots of baby talk, diaper changing, bottle feeding and hugs. I haven't finished reading the orientation manual from work but, I did get a chance to be with the babies today. It was quite a change to my regular routine, but a lot of fun.

For today's card I used another favorite stamp set. I used the Bella Toile background stamp, along with the Beautiful Borders stamps set. The color combinations are chocolate chip, bashful blue and whisper white. I also used the DOILY LACE EDGE PUNCH by Martha Stewart

I made this card with many friends in mind. They have helped me to keep a proper Perspective on life. Most importantly, they have helped me not lose focus in what is most important in life. I hope you are as lucky as I am to have friends who care about you.

When was the last time you sent a card to a friend? I encourage you today to make a card with a special friend in mind and send it to them. Remind them of how lucky you are to have them in your life.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Today's card was inspired by my day.

I started the day reading my devotional, getting the kids ready for school and of course getting myself ready. It was also my first day at my new job. When I arrived to work, I had to fill out the normal employee paper work and then I was given an orientation manual to read. Little did I know that I was going to read 200 pages from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm! What a day!! Only 24 more pages to go!!!

My card today has no greeting. I am at a lost for words. I had to read so much today, that I could not think of what sentiment to put on the card.
I also wanted to show you my favorite stamp before I show you the new Spring - Summer 2009 catalog! Yup, I have the catalog and can't wait to show you all the new stamps and accessories. But, before I show you the new catalog, I invite you to show me your favorite stamp. Design a card with your favorite stamp and email me by Friday. I will post the best design on my blog on Saturday.

I used 'From the Garden' Spring - Summer 08' SU Catalog, whisper white and basic black card stock, black brads from the vintage brad collection and water color pencils.

Well, I gotta go so I can make my new wish list! I'm sure I'll find something I don't want. *wink*

My First Blog

I am so excited to share with you my blog! It only took me 7 1/2 hours to figure out how I want my page to look like *wink*. I am very pleased with the outcome and hope you like it too.

I have been teaching Stampin' Up workshops for both beginners and advanced stampers. I found that no matter what level you are in, people always want simple creations. We also want to create simplicity in our lives so that we can enjoy what is most important to us. For this reason I was inspired to name this blog Stampin with Simplicity.

My goal with this blog is to share with you my creations and inspire you both creatively and personally. I am very blessed to have friends in my life that have been with me through my trails and tribulations. Stamping has given me an outlet during those hard times and I am so grateful to my dear friend Alicia, for sharing with me her passion for creative stamping. I wish to return that gift to you - my reader.

I look forward to sharing with you my creations and receiving your comments.

Isaiah 58:11
The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.
